    Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jasgurpreet Singh Puri was born on 30th August, 1965 at Nabha, District Patiala, Punjab. After completing ICSE (10th) from Punjab Public School, Nabha in the year 1980, did B.A. Honours School in Economics in the year 1984, LL.B. in the year 1987 and LL.M. in the year 1990 from Punjabi University Campus, Patiala.
    Started law practice as a first generation lawyer at Subordinate Courts, Nabha and shifted to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh in the year 1991 where he practiced till his elevation. Had been visiting Lecturer in the Faculty of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh for six years from 1992 to 1998 and taught LL.B. final year students in various subjects of law i.e. The Indian Evidence Act, The Limitation Act, The Representation of People Act, Consumer Protection Laws etc. He had been visiting for various lectures in the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Chandigarh for imparting training to the Civil Servants and Revenue Officers of the State of Punjab. He had been visiting for lectures in various other organisations, including training of Law Officers of Punjab National Bank, senior officers of Punjab State Cooperative Training Institute, IAS and PCS Training Centres at Panjab University, Chandigarh and Punjabi University, Patiala.
    He was appointed as Additional Advocate General of the State of Punjab in the year 2009 and remained as such for eight years till June, 2017. During law practice at the Punjab and Haryana High Court, he dealt with Civil, Service, Criminal, Corporate, Environment, Cooperative and Election matters. Remained standing counsel for Food Corporation of India, Retainer for Punjab State Tubewell Corporation (now Punjab Water Resources Management and Development Corporation), National Brain Research Centre, Manesar and National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, besides counsel for various organisations, including Punjab School Education Board, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab Mandi Board, Cooperative Banks, MARKFED, Indian Medical Association (Punjab Chapter) and Urban Estate Welfare Association, Patiala.
